Thoughts… - 10.19.11

Assumptions are based on “data” collected and stored in the ego. Taken by itself, the “data” is not a problem, as its collection and storage is necessary for the preservation of the human organism. The problem is when we take the assumptions formed by that data as truth, and allow it to influence our perception of reality, as opposed to realizing that “truth” is a fleeting thing that only applies to the moment in which it is perceived. Complete attention upon our reactions to phenomena is necessary.

While one is attentive, consciousness (ego) becomes a tool for the performance of action; a means by which the inner workings of the organism are expressed. In ignorance, however, action serves the ends of consciousness, and becomes karmic, thus binding the individual to the wheel of suffering.
